The Opportunity
The Laboratory & Calibration Technician supports laboratory testing and equipment calibration activities to ensure the accuracy and quality of dairy product testing and manufacturing processes.
Working closely with the Senior Protein Specialist, the role involves analysing dairy products to determine protein composition using advanced analytical equipment such as HPLC and Mass Spectrometry, while also conducting routine physical, microbial and chemical testing. The role is also responsible for monitoring and maintaining calibration of key testing equipment to ensure accurate results and support operational performance.
Prepare and test dairy product samples in line with laboratory procedures.
Analyse protein composition using HPLC, Mass Spectrometry and other laboratory equipment.
Conduct routine physical, microbial and chemical testing of dairy products.
Investigate and escalate out-of-specification results.
Record, review and report laboratory test results.
Develop and maintain a calibration monitoring program for testing equipment.
Manage calibration and preventative maintenance requirements to ensure equipment accuracy and reliability.
Support validation of new and existing testing equipment.
Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities across testing processes.
What you’ll bring
Experience working in a laboratory or manufacturing environment, ideally within food or dairy.
Experience using HPLC, Mass Spectrometry, or similar analytical equipment.
Experience conducting physical, microbial and chemical testing is desirable.
Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as NIR, IR, pH meters, balances and moisture analysers is advantageous.
Tertiary qualification in Food Science, Dairy Science, Chemistry or a related field.
